My Approach
After a conversation with yourself, and then your child, I will do a series of informal activities and assessments to allow me to decide on the targets that we will need to work on. I will then explain these targets to you and your child, ensuring that we are all in agreement that my plans are appropriate for our shared goals. Your honesty and openness, in our discussions, are crucial to the success of the programme, so I welcome your thoughts and opinions at every stage.
Your child will gain a strong sense of achievement
Within each lesson, there will be the right balance of multisensory activities and more formal written tasks for your child. By structuring every lesson carefully, your child will gain a strong sense of achievement because the positive steps made towards the end goals will be clearly apparent.
To ensure that my service is one of excellence, I believe that it is very important that I share your child’s achievements, along with the next steps, at the end of every lesson. Therefore, I allow up to fifteen minutes for your child and I to talk through what we have worked on with you. This gives you an insight into your child’s learning journey and how you can support your child at home.
I will adjust my approach in accordance with your child’s progress
As the weeks go by, there will be a constant cycle of informal assessments that inform my planning and I will adjust my approach in accordance with your child’s progress within every lesson. Regular monitoring and reviews will be necessary to guarantee that the programme is as progressive and successful as possible.
I offer lessons in my classroom (in Pulborough, West Sussex) and online. If you have chosen to educate your child at home, I am more than happy to discuss ways in which I can support your child’s learning journey with either 1:1 or group lessons. I also offer individual and group lessons during the school holidays for children that benefit from spending additional time on specific topics and exam preparation. If you would like me to support a number of different individuals or groups, please do contact me to discuss possible options.
